The government plans to pay Bidik Misi scholarships in advance, in the same way as salaries are paid. This is necessary as the scholarships are essential for covering the living expenses of students, said Illah Sailah, the Director of Education and Student Affairs, in Jakarta yesterday.
“The size of the scholarships won’t change, it will continue to be Rp 600 thousand per month. But the money will be paid out on a semiannual basis,” he said, adding that scholarships which had been delayed since January would be paid out next week.
