Minister of Education and Culture Mohammad Nuh has appointed Syawal Goeltom to be the new Head of Research and Development at his ministry following President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyno’s approval of Khairil Anwar’s resignation from that position.

Khairil resigned from this position as Head of Research and Development due to the delayed duplication and distribution process of the national exam papers for senior high schools last April. Aside from Khairil, two other officials at the ministry resigned from their posts because of the chaotic implementation of the national exams earlier this year.

Previously, the ministry’s inspector general, Haryono Umar, revealed that these three officials did not resign. They were instead removed from their post due to a recommendation made based on the inspectorate general’s investigation results.
