Minister of Education and Culture Mohammad Nuh flew to Papua two weeks ago and revealed how the government plans to improve the education in Papua. For the mountains, Nuh plans to begin with Lanny Jaya because this was the first educational city in the central mountains of Papua. He hopes this school can encourage the districts and cities surrounding the area.

To help with the issue of lack of teachers, Nuh says the ministry will supply them through the government’s SM3T Education Program in order to ensure the quality of their teaching as well.

The government plans to use a welfare approach as opposed to a security approach to help progress the education in Papua, especially in the field of health.
