Commission X at the House of Representatives (DPR) demanded the National Exam convention to result in a credible agreement that can improve the implementation of the National Exams. The Commission’s Deputy Chairman, Utut Adianto, hopes the convention will be able to come up with a way to make the National Exams as a way to map the students, and not a requirement for graduating.

Previously, during a meeting with the DPR’s Commission IX, Minister of Education and Culture Mohammad Nuh invited all members of the Commission to attend the National Exam Convention in Jakarta. The Convention will consist of academicians, education activists or organizations, and all linked to education to discuss the implementation of the National Exam, whether or not the National Exam is still necessary, and its academic contents. However, a pre-convention will be held first in a few major cities to gather information on how various regions perceive the National Exams. The Convention will also display how the National Nxam is held in other countries as an example.

Konvensi Mesti Evaluasi UN secara Komprehensif

Media Indonesia p15

Problems Still Occur in Online Education Database Management

The Ministry of Education and Culture still encounters problems in managing the nation’s main education database (Dapodik) online system. This online data system has instead resulted in a number of errors regarding the data for teachers. As a result, the distribution of teacher benefits (TPG) for many teachers was delayed.

Andi Azis from the Committee for the Struggle of Honorary Teachers in West Java said the Dapodik’s online data system also resulted in injustice. Some honorary teachers in state elementary and junior high schools were able to receive these teacher benefits even though the Ministry issued an instruction in 2012 prohibiting part-time teachers, including honorary teachers who do not receive their salary from the regional/ national budget (APBD/ APBN), from receiving teacher benefits from the state.

Many have also complained about the online education database system for universities (PDPT). Patdono Suwignjo, Secretary of the Directorate General for Higher Education at the Ministry of Education and Culture, said the Ministry has been working on this system for almost eight years because it is crucial to be used as a reference. Unfortunately, the system has not been perfected up until now.

Data Pokok Pendidikan Masih Bermasalah

Kompas, p 12
