The Government is currently laying out its plan for the distribution of national instructors for training target teachers on the implementation of the 2013 Curriculum this year. This is the second year the 2013 Curriculum would be implemented by the Government.

National instructors would be deployed from one school to another in order to create an even distribution of instructors to teach teachers and subjects on the 2013 Curriculum.

Head of Human Resource Development for Education and Education Quality Assurance within the Ministry of Education and Culture, Syawal Gultom, said the Ministry is currently mapping out the distribution of national instructors. Afterwards, the Ministry would then conduct its administrative selection process.

The Ministry began recruiting national instructors last week for primary schools (14,707 teachers), junior secondary schools (10,107 teachers), senior secondary schools (5,352 teachers), and vocational schools (2,940 teachers).  Registration for the recruitment process ended last Sunday on January 26, 2014.

Pemerintah kini sedang memetakan distribusi instruktur nasional untuk melatih guru sasaran pada penerapan Kurikulum 2013 yang tahun ini memasuki tahun kedua.

Pemetaan dipakai agar instruktur nasional yang disebar dari satu titik sekolah ke titik sekolah lain berimbang, baik dari jumlah guru maupun mata pelajaran yang diampu.

Kepala Badan Pengembangan Sumber Daya Manusia Pendidikan dan Penjaminan Mutu Pendidikan Kemendikbud Syawal Gultom, mengatakan, Kemendikbud tengah merekrut instruktur nasional pada pekan lalu untuk SD sebanyak 14.707 guru, SMP sebanyak 10.107 guru, SMA sebanyak 5.352 guru, dan SMK sebanyak 2. 940 guru. Pendaftaran rekrutmen sudah ditutup Minggu (26/1) lalu.

Rekrutmen instruktur nasional tersebut mendapatkan animo tinggi dari guru. Berdasarkan data sementara pekan lalu, sudah melebihi target di atas 23 ribu orang pendaftar.

Kanazawa University, a university from Japan, has offered scholarships for doctorate degrees to 30 Indonesian students across Indonesia who are willing to continue their studies in Japan. Students who wish to apply for this scholarship are not required to speak Japanese.

Head of Kanazawa University’s delegation team, Prof. Seiro Omata, said the scholarship program is aimed at providing an opportunity for Indonesian citizens to continue their studies in Japan. This scholarship program is also aimed at strengthening the bond in education between Kanazawa University and the Indonesian Government.

This scholarship program is the result of a partnership between the Ministry of Education and Culture’s Directorate General for Higher Education and Kanazawa University.

Kanazawa University has also prepared two Japanese language classes for October this year, which include an intensive class and survival class. Both of these classes are aimed at aiding Indonesian students gain a better understanding of the Japanese language in order to ease their daily interactions during their stay in Japan.

Kanazawa University has also prepared a student loan worth IDR 600 million per person for the recipients of the scholarships during the first three months of their studies in Japan. Persons who already have a family would receive an extra allowance for their children. If one gives birth during their stay in Japan, the person would be entitled to receive an allowance worth IDR 40 million.

The interview process with the Directorate General for Higher Education would be held in April and the recipients of the scholarships would be announced from June – July 2014.

Salah satu perguruan tinggi di Jepang, Kanazawa University, menawarkan beasiswa doktor (S3) kepada 30 orang di seluruh Indonesia guna melanjutkan studi ke negara tersebut. Mahasiswa program studi S3 tersebut tidak diwajibkan untuk menguasai bahasa Jepang.

Ketua Tim Delegasi dari Kanazawa University Prof Seiro Omata dalam sosialisasi beasiswa S3, mengatakan, program beasiswa tersebut untuk memberikan kesempatan bagi masyarakat Indonesia melanjutkan studi ke Negeri Sakura itu.

Program beasiswa tersebut merupakan hasil kerja sama antara Direktorat Jenderal Perguruan Tinggi (Dikti) dan Kanazawa University.

Selain itu, pihaknya mempersiapkan dana talangan bagi mahasiswa yang keuangannya tersendat pada tahun pertama kuliah supaya mahasiswa tersebut fokus dalam menjalani studinya.

The Ministry of Education and Culture is optimistic that the 2014 National Examination would run smoothly this year. The Ministry has performed various improvements to avoid any incidents similar to the 2013 National Examination fiasco.

Secretary of the Research and Development Agency within the Ministry of Education and Culture, Dadang Sudiarto, said the quality of the paper to be used for the 2014 National Examination has been increased. The paper is no longer thin and will not tear easily.

All elements linked to the confidentiality of creating the National Examination questions, question distribution, and implementation of the National Examination has also been improved. Dadang added the Ministry has involved the police to ensure the confidentiality of the questions for the National Examination this year in order to ensure that the implementation would run smoothly.

As for the preparations for the National Examination, Dadang said the National Examination Committee has already begun its bid for the production of the National Examination questions and materials.

“We have already announced the qualifications for companies that could participate in the auction for the procurement of the production of the National Examination on January 22,” said Dadang.

Secretary General of the National Education Commission, Andreas Tambah, said the auction for the production of the National Examination questions and materials must be transparent in order to be able to select a professional top quality company. Participants of the auction must be credible.

Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan (Kemendikbud) optimistis pelaksanaan ujian nasional (UN) tahun ini lancar. Banyak perbaikan yang dilakukan untuk mencegah terulangnya kisruh UN pada tahun lalu.

Sekretaris Badan Penelitian dan Pengembangan (Balitbang) Kemendikbud Dadang Sudiarto mengatakan, kualitas kertas soal UN ditingkatkan. Kertas tidak tipis dan tidak mudah sobek

Pengamanan dalam pembuatan soal, distribusi soal, juga pelaksanaan UN ditingkatkan di seluruh lini. Pengamanan soal ini dilakukan baik dalam pencetakan soalnya hingga distribusinya serta kerahasiaan soal.

Dalam pengamanan, pihaknya melibatkan kepolisian. Ini perlu dilakukan untuk memaksimalkan pengamanan guna melancarkan jalannya UN.

Terkait dengan persiapan UN, Dadang mengatakan, panitia UN sudah mulai melakukan lelang pengadaan soal ujian nasional.

Di tempat terpisah, anggota Komisi X DPR RI Herlini Amran dari Fraksi PKS berharap UN tahun ini bisa dilaksanakan lebih baik dari tahun kemarin.

Sementara itu, Sekjen Komnas Pendidikan Andreas Tambah mengatakan, pelelangan pengadaan soal UN harus terbuka agar terpilih perusahaan profesional yang berkualitas. Peserta lelang harus perusahaan yang kredibel.

Universities are encouraged to be more directly involved in aiding the nation improve its democratic system. The role of universities is considered to be crucial because of its independent and critical position, making it trustworthy and respected by society.

Maarif Institute founder, Ahmad Syafii Maaif, said in order to avoid past mistakes, he encourages universities to participate in forming public opinions aimed at selecting the right representatives for the national and a presidential candidate that has the potential to be a great statesman. The presidential candidate must also fulfill the requirements put forth by Indonesia’s first Vice President, Bung Hatta, which is a person who is responsible and honest.
