Bidik Misi Scholarship Program for students Aim in State Universities is expected to break the chain of poverty.
Rector of the University of Indonesia (UI) M Anis said this program can help a lot of clever students coming from economically disadvantaged families. He was sure that this program can break the chain of poverty.
Bidik Misi is a scholarship program for poor students having high achievements. The scholarships are granted through the selection for State University admission (SNMPTN) and through the Joint Admission Selection for State Universities as well as independent selection.
Bidik Misi scholarships are granted since the students are admitted in a state university until the 8th semester for D-IV and S1 programs. Each student receives Rp 6 million per semester, including living cost support of Rp600 thousand per month.
However, according to Deputy to Rector of IPB Yonnie BY Koesmaryono, a variety of irregularities are still found its implementation. Counterfeited documents of parents’ incomes, for instance, are found.
