Penarikan Pekerja Anak Harus Pikirkan Biaya Pendidikan

www.vivanews.com

Child Labor Withdrawals Must Consider Education Expenses

www.vivanews.com

The child labor withdrawal campaign implementation across Indonesia by the Manpower Ministry must take education expenses to send back child labors to schools into account. It is critical in order to improve their families’ livelihoods.

It was asserted by the House of Representatives’ Commission X member Imam Suroso. Previously, Manpower Minister Hanif Dhakiri launched the child labor withdrawal campaign which would be undertaken nationwide. During its initial stage, 16 thousand child labors will be withdrawn and send beck to schools. Most of them come from poor families. Their ages range from 7 to 15 years old.

Imam agreed with the 16 thousand child labors’ withdrawal by the government. However, he urged the government to be responsible for their education expenses. There is a need to government assistances for the children’s families. To do so, the government should talk to the Commission IX to discuss campaign strategy and compensations/assistances for the poor families.

The program is also aimed to support the Hopeful Family Program (PKH). Children must be freed from the worst and dangerous forms of employment. By withdrawing child labors from workplace, it is expected that their families’ livelihoods quality will be better-off.

Imam suggested the Manpower Ministry to collaborate with the Education and Culture Ministry and the Social Affairs Ministry. Imam added that the Commission IX was ready to facilitate and support its budgeting.

Jokowi Perpanjang Moratorium

Koran Tempo, halaman 9

Presiden Joko Widodo meminta moratorium perubahan bentuk perguruan tinggi swasta (PTS) menjadi perguruan tinggi negeri (PTN) diperpanjang.

Presiden meminta nasionalisasi PTS dilakukan setelah keadaan ekonomi Indonesia membaik.

Ketua Umum Asosiasi Perguruan Tinggi Swasta Indonesia (Aptisi) Edy Suandi Hamid setuju moratorium perubahan stasus PTS menjadi PTN.

Jokowi Extends Moratorium

Koran Tempo, page 9

President Joko Widodo asked the extension of a moratorium on private universities’ status change to be state universities. One of the reasons, the President did not expect the recent fake diploma cases to be repeated.

Research, Technology and Higher Education Minister Muhammad Nasir said the President was looking for alternatives to improve private universities’ quality so that its quality would be equal to state universities upon the moratorium. Higher education will also be distributed to remote areas.

The moratorium extension is also conducted due to a budget limitation. There are a lot of problems to resolve when private universities changed to be state universities, such as the status of lecturer and staff employment, assets and budget,

President Jokowi urged the private universities’ ‘nationalizations’ to be carried out after the economy has already recovered. Proposals from 27 private universities to be state universities had yet to be fulfilled since in general, state universities which proposed a status change expected a full financing from the annual state budget (APBN).

The Association of Indonesian Private Universities (Aptisi) Chairman Edy Suandi Hamid agreed with the moratorium. He asserted that initially, the moratorium aimed to distribute higher education services equally while in reality the share of private universities which had changed their status were dominated by well-established private universities in Java.

Dispendik Jamin Tak ada Bangku Kosong

Jawa Pos, halaman 32

Jawa Pos, page 32

Similarly in junior high schools (SMP). Head of DKI Jakarta Education Agency (Dispendik) Arie Budiman said since registration was closed yesterday at 16.00 hours, there are 4,646 prospective students registering online at http://smp.ppbdki.org.

The figure is pre-registration followed by residents from outside DKI. For DKI resident registrants would be conducted until 4 July. Regarding the possibilty of empty seats/benches, Ari said his party would not let that happen. His party is now recapping the high school (SMA) PPDB first, and would fill every empty seat by online system too, so the process is open and there would be no accusations of the sale of seats.

Subsection Head of Data and Information UPT Data and Information Center Dispendik DKI Eko Wahyu Wibowo said, the third stage of selection of SMA level PPDB left 1,257 empty seats to be filled by the next stage of registrants.
