The Provincial Government of Gorontalo will try to protect thousands of honorary teaches in the province by, among others, registering life and health insurance policies for 1,957 honorary teachers. Governor of Gorontalo, Rusli Habiebie asserted that the program has been planned since 2015. Currently, as many as 1,957 honorary teachers get the protection of life insurance.
This is aimed merely at improving the quality of education in Gorontalo Province. Honorary teachers will also get a variety of facilities. The life and health insurances registered for honorary teachers include accident benefits, death benefits, and pensions.
Head of Education, Culture and Sport Office of the Province, Weni Liputo, said that the insurance will hopefully become lifetime insurances for honorary teachers. This insurance is in fact manifestation of the Provincial Government’s care for teaching instructors while expecting that the quality of education in the province will be better and better.
In addition to insurance, every year the Provincial Government of Gorontalo tries to increase honorariums for honorary teachers. Currently, a honorary payment reaches Rp 1 million. In 2017, the Provincial Government will increase the honorarium for honorary teachers to reach the Provincial Minimum Wage of at least Rp 1.8 million.
