The University of Padjadjaran (Unpad) deployed professors to rural areas of West Java to identify and assess all issues in society which could then be resolved. Rector of Unpad Prof. Dr. Tri Anggono Ahmad said that the program is in line with government plans for regional development. According to him the presence of academics to the regions would be the bridge to assess the various problems/issues developing in the regions.
He explained that the purpose of the professor’s presence was to assist the city/regency administrations in handling various problems. Tri said that regional development is not only in Bandung, but must also be in other regions.
He conveyed that the program will be conducted in various academic agendas such as student Real Work or Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) activities or student involvement with communities. He said that the project involved 73 professors from Padjadjaran University with its implementation in the targeted areas of Majalengka, Indramayu, Subang and Purwakarta Regencies. In the meantime, the professor deployment program is still focused on the West Java region, but it will be developed to cooperations with other universities.
