The beginning of this year became a new stage for educators and education personnel in DKI Jakarta. Commencing January, non-PNS (civil servants) educators and education personnel will receive a salary based on the provincial minimum wage (UMP) for DKI Jakarta amounting to Rp3.1 million every month.
Department of Education (Dispendik) of DKI Jakarta allocated the budget for non-PNS educators and education personnel in DKI to receive salary according to DKI Jakarta UMP. This arrangement is ideal to improve the performance of non-PNS personnel in the education sector.
There are quite a number of non-PNS educators and education personnel in DKI Jakarta. Non-PNS teachers number 9,578 people alone, while, education personnel such as librarians and cleaning service consist of some 6,000 people. Honorary teachers and other education personnel have received an employment contract to receive UMP, the contract being effective for one year.
According to the Head of Seksi Bidang Sumber Daya Manusia Suku Dinas Pendidikan Jakarta Pusat I, Lily Kristiandari, the contract will expire this December. A new contract will be provided in early 2017. Lily explained that some 739 educators and education personnel in Sudin Pendidikan Jakarta Pusat I have a contract to receive UMP. She hoped that an increase in quota can be made available in 2017. Such an increase will accommodate some non-PNS school personnel who have not received salary based on UMP this year.
