The Indonesian team won three gold, three silver, and 10 bronze medals in the 3rd Challenge For Future Mathematicians (CFM) competition in Nakhon Nayok, Thailand on 28 – 31 October 2016. This achievement prompts the international community to recognize that Indonesian children excel in science.
President Director of Mathematics and Science Education Clinic (KPM) and Mathematics Olympic coach, Raden Ridwan Hasan Saputra, explained on Monday (31/10), the full results were the Indonesian team won three gold, three silver, 10 bronze, seven merits and one participant for individual category. The Indonesian Team, he added, regularly followed this competition since 2014.
This year, Indonesia sent 24 students divided into six teams. Respectively, a team of Middle Primary (grades III – IV SD), three teams of Upper Primary (V – VI SD) and two Junior teams (VII – VIII SMP). In 2016, CFM is participated by five countries namely Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines and Vietnam with 228 participants divided into 59 teams.
Indonesian gold medalist, Arief Wibisono recognizes the difficulty level of this race. One of Indonesia’s team leaders, Ryky Single said this competition is aimed to gain experience and friendship. Because children who follow CFM are very familiar and know each other and cooperate with each other when they find difficulty.
