Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) awarded an honor title to the adjunct professor, the 1999 Nobel laureate in Physics, Prof. Gerard ’t Hooft. This title was directly awarded by ITB rector, Prof. Kadarsah Suryadi, at the same time of the event of the 6th International Conference on Mathematics and Natural Science at West Hall of ITB, Wednesday (2/11).
Prof. Hooft, the keynote speaker in ICMNS 2016 bringing the topic of ‘Standard Model and Beyond’ in ITB, felt so proud and delighted with this award from ITB. This moment will open the gate of cooperation for future development of Physics.
He further revealed that this award also provides him with responsibilities for developing future research together with ITB following the advancement of Physics either in Indonesia or the world. This professor of theoretical Physics in Utrecht University, Netherland, will also be happy to occasionally visit ITB to lecture the students directly in addition to his contribution of his knowledge through e-mails or teleconferences.
Dean of the Faculty of Mathematic and Natural Science (F-MIPA) ITB, Edy Tri Baskoro said that they expect Prof. Hooft’s contribution of knowledge for ITB students. His Faculty is very proud that a world class Physics expert wants to be a part of ITB by providing motivation and knowledge for the students.
