The Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (Kemenpan-RB) stated that there will be no moratorium for recruitment of education personnel. Civil servant candidate selection (CPNS) for teachers will be conducted as necessary.
This was revealed by the Head of Bureau of Legal, Communication and Public Information of Kemenpan-RB, Herman Suryatman. This year the government has carried out CPNS of education personnel selection for the program of front liner teachers (GGD) but this was not for regular applicants.
Herman said that he has not determined the regular recruitment opening for education personnel. His Bureau is currently still reviewing the analysis of position and burden of work relating to education personnel.
Deputy of Commission II, Ahmad Riza Patria, revealed that we do not face teacher shortage to date because there are still many honorary teachers who help. Furthermore, there are some 500,000 education personnel to retire in 2019. Therefore, Kemenpan-RB still has time for preparation. He hoped that Kemenpan-RB and Kemendikbud can cooperate to prepare the right strategy and policy for education personnel recruitment.
