In respect of National Heroes’ Day, November 10, yesterday, the Minister of Education and Culture (Mendikbud), Muhadjir Effendy said that the spirit of heroism must be waged against ignorance, poverty, injustice, and underdevelopment. The younger generation should be more determined to study harder, involve in mutual cooperation and work hard to achieve greatness today and in future.
Muhadjir said that the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) faces enormous challenges associated with the mentality of the younger generation. On the one side are the superior accomplishments that have been achieved by students in various fields and various levels. Those achievements are so praiseworthy and deserve high appreciation. But on the other hand there are still many of the nation’s children who are scattered outside the school, in the streets, with no access to good education.
In addition, there are also children in school who have weak mentality, who give up easily, who are used to instant culture, and morals that deviate from the educational objectives.
He conveyed that it has become a common concern. Heroic spirit is gaining fighting spirit to achieve their dreams, not the spirit of ashes and lamenting fate. To that end, his party has seriously designed educational patterns that are expected to answer future challenges and opportunities of the demographic bonus.
