Universities and campuses have a significant role to play in producing better leaders for Indonesia in the future. Campuses, therefore, must function as the seeding ground for Indonesian values through the dissemination of the four national pillars, namely, Pancasila, UUD 1945, Bhinneka Tunggal Ika and the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
This was revealed by the Chairman of MPR, Zulkifli Hasan, keynote speaker of the seminar “Peran Pemuda Melanjutkan Perjuangan Pahlawan Nasional dalam Kerangka Empat Pilar Kebangsaan” in Tarumanegara University campus, Jakarta, yesterday. The role of campuses and universities must become an important pillar for the advancement of the nation because universities are the places that produce national leaders in various fields such as law, politics, economics, etc. Campuses must become the basis for promoting Indonesian values as expressed through the four national pillars.
At the opening of the seminar, Zulkifli revealed his concern about the fading of the value of brotherhood within the nation and disparity in this country because of inadequate social opportunity. The system of democracy in Indonesia should provide equal and adequate welfare.
