Implementation of the provisions for graduate students to write scientific papers published in scientific journals is still dependent on the policy of the respective higher education institutions. However, a number of universities began to require their students to publish scientific papers in internal higher education scientific journals.

Based on information collected from graduate students from several universities, for example Hanif Akhtar, S-2 student of Psychology, University of Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta, said that the provision for students to produce the publication of scientific papers in scientific journals have already been familiarized. However, this provision is not yet one hundred percent required, including the effect on the successful completion of the graduate program, depends on the policy of the respective campuses.

It was similarly disclosed by a student of Master of Law of Pelita Harapan University, Alpheus Jebabun, who said that the making of scientific publications published in scientific journals on campus is still limited to an appeal. The writing prepared, he said, is prioritized for making the thesis.

Meanwhile, Director General of Learning and Student Affairs of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education Intan Ahmad said, the obligation to write scientific papers published in scientific journals aims to improve the productivity of Indonesia’s publications at the international level. In addition, so that Indonesia is proactive in developing science and research from within the country.

Intan added, university leaders must ensure that the obligation of publications in scientific journals in respective campuses run according to regulations. However, as a control, Kemristek Dikti could supervised through the national diploma numbering system.
