The Minister of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) claimed that the implementation of the computer-based national exam (UNBK) in vocational high schools (SMK) ran smoothly. However, several problems were still found in the implementation of the UNBK in SMK.

This was stated by the Inspector General (Irjen) of Kemendikbud, Daryanto, on Thursday (6/4). He said that both technical and non-technical problems occurred in the implementation of the UNBK in SMK, such as power outages, internet networks and data synchronization.

Even though these problems caused concern, Daryanto said that there were no reports of questions from the UNBK of SMK being leaked. This was a result of work and cooperation from all parties, especially State Cryptography (Lemsaneg) and is considered to be an improvement on several existing shortcomings in informatics. He added that this UNBK result would provide evaluation material for the government, at both central and regional levels.

The General Head of the Teachers’ Union of the Republic of Indonesia (PB PGRI), Unifah Rasyidi, admitted that UNBK 2017 of SMK was able to minimize cheating. Overall, UNBK ran smoothly, even though it still faced several problems in some regions.

In total. 1,327,246 students from 12,509 schools took the national exam of SMK. Of these, only 150,855 students took the pencil and paper national exam (UNKP) and 1,176,391 students the UNBK.
