Indonesia To Be the Host of the International Mathematics Camp

Indonesia is to be the Host of International Mathematics Camp (IM Camp). This activity is aimed at studying math together with students from different countries and will be held in Bogor, West Java, from April 25th to May 3rd, 2017.

The President Director of the MIPA Education Clinique (KPM) as well as the trainer of the International Mathematical Olympiad, Ridwan Hasan Saputra, on Tuesday (11/4), said that the teachers for this IM Camp were made up of math experts from different countries. He added that this Camp was to be held with the cooperation of five countries, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, Philippines, and Indonesia.

KPM was selected as the institution to organize the IM Camp in Indonesia. This institution was also the organizing institution for the International Mathematics and Science Olympiad (IMSO) 2016 in Tangerang City. All materials of the IM Camp are to be presented in English. Besides studying math, the students will share their experiences and cultures, in order to be close one another. This IM camp is for students of 5-6 of Elementary Schools and 7-8 of Junior High Schools.

Included among the math experts who have trained in IM Camp are Dr. Wen Hsien Sun (Taiwan), Dr. Simon L Chua (Philippines), Dr. Pramote Kajornpai (Thailand), Ridwan Hasan Saputra (Indonesia), as well as the other Indonesian math experts. The students will study math material relating to problem solving, math Olympiad materials, math explorations, and various math games.

Ridwan added that for those who would like to know the requirements to take part in the IM Camp, the committee of the IM Camp in Indonesia will remain open for registration until April 20, 2017. He hoped that Indonesian children talents in math will be able to make the most of this rare opportunity.
