The Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) continues to prepare human resources (HR) for the tourism sector through Vocational High School level (SMK). This is done to strengthen the competitiveness of the Indonesian economy in the international arena.
Minister of Education and Culture (Mendikbud), Muhadjir Effendy said in Pariaman City, West Sumatera, Sunday (23/4),that the development of human resources is absolutely necessary as the most basic need. Currently, he continued, there are four main foci of government to improve the economy, namely the tourism sector, agriculture especially food sustainability, marine, and creative industries (including cinema, culinary, garment).
In a series of working visits in West Sumatra Province from 23 to 24 April 2017, Mendikbud endorsed Vocational High School/SMK Global Pariaman. This school is built on an area of 1.2 hectares to facilitate two specializations namely Hospitality and Catering Services.
On that occasion, Pariaman City Mayor, Rahman Mukhlis explained that the development of SMK Global is through the New School Unit assistance scheme with an allocation of Rp 2.6 Billion from Kemendikbud. According to him, in preparing the human resources of SMK in Pariaman City is the task of all parties including the Central Government, local administration (Pemda), the private sector and the public.
