The Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) and the Coordinating Ministry of Maritime have established cooperation for the development and application of maritime load curriculum. The MoU between these two institutions was signed by Menko Maritim Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan and Mendikbud Muhadjir Effendy in Jakarta, on Thursday (4/5).
Muhadjir said that the Ministry of Education and Culture should mainstream the maritime issue to the curriculum. This should not be a subject by itself, but could be inserted in almost all subjects and activities at schools. On the same occasion, Luhut expressed appreciation that Kemendikbud supported the maritime issue. The issue highlighted was in regard to the management of plastic waste that threatens Indonesia waters.
The basis for cooperation consists of the development, implementation, and evaluation of maritime load education curriculum in all lines, levels, and educational types as a place and/or a facility to develop the change of knowledge, insight, value, concern, attitude and behavior in support of the maritime development.
Socialization through a campaign and award to a person and an educational institution applying maritime load curriculum has also become a basis for the cooperation between Kemendikbud and Kemenko Kemaritiman. In addition, upgrading the capacity of stakeholders in the field of education is being implemented to maintain the commitment and participation of all parties.
