Four young Indonesian researchers who are also Senior High School (SMA) students gained an international award at the Intel-International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Los Angeles, United States.
This event was held on May 14-19 with 87 participating countries displaying the results of 1,778 student research projects. Intel-ISEF is the biggest science competition in the world and is held by the Society for Science and The Public. This is implemented annually in three different cities: Los Angeles, Phoenix, and Pittsburg. The Indonesian delegates presented eight research projects selected through competitions at the national level: Indonesian Student Research Olympiad (OPSI) and Youth Science Competition (LKIR) 2016.
The students gaining the ISEF award were Bagus Putu Satria Suarima and Made Radikia Prasanta from State Senior High School (SMAN) Bali Mandara, Bali. They were placed Third in the main award from the American Meteorological Society for their research entitled “Smart Digital Psychometer for Forecasting Local Weather”. Their research resulted in a psychrometer, which is a tool to predict weather within a 10-kilometer radius.
