Menpar Dorong Mahasiswa jadi Pengusaha

Menteri Pariwisata (Menpar) Arief Yahya mendorong agar mahasiswa menjadi pengusaha, terutama di sektor pariwisata. Dalam acara Peletakan Batu Pertama Pembangunan Gedung Akademi Politeknik Pariwisata Negeri Palembang, Arief mengatakan, sebanyak 10 persen lulusan politeknik ini akan dilatih kewiraswastaan ​​di bawah naungan Kementerian Pariwisata (Kemenpar).

Para lulusan politeknik, lanjut Arief, tidak perlu khawatir karena Kemenpar akan membantu mereka untuk memiliki daya saing di sektor pariwisata. Kemenpar, tambahnya, akan membentuk inkubator bagi mereka yang serius ingin menjalankan bisnis sendiri, sehingga kesejahteraan semua pemain di sektor pariwisata akan meningkat.

Arief mengatakan, 100 persen lulusan dari politeknik pariwisata tersebut telah diserap pasar dengan berbagai pekerjaan di bidang perhotelan, restoran, kafe , agen perjalanan dan lainnya. Arief menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 40 persen lulusannya bahkan ditawari pekerjaan di luar negeri.

Namun demikian, lanjutnya, rata-rata gaji yang diterima dalam industri  Pariwisata masih relatif lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan industri keuangan, minyak dan gas, pertambangan, properti dan telekomunikasi. Penghasilan yang diterima Manajer Umum Hotel berkisar hingga Rp 100 juta ($ 7.500) per bulan, jauh lebih sedikit dibanding chief executive di perusahaan telekomunikasi.

Menpar menambahkan, lembaga pelatihan pariwisata di Indonesia harus menerapkan standar global, termasuk  adanya pengaturan antara negara-negara ASEAN dalam memfasilitasi pekerja di sektor kepariwisataan. Untuk memudahkan mendapatkan pekerjaan di Singapura, Malaysia, Thailand atau negara lainnya, para lulusan juga diharuskan untuk memiliki sertifikat.

Arief selanjutnya menyarankan agar mahasiswa politeknik pariwisata mengikuti sertifikasi TedQual, yaitu kualifikasi di bidang kepariwisataan yang disertifikasi oleh United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). Terlebih di Palembang, tambahnya, yang dijuluki sebagai provinsi olahraga, maka seharusnya ada program studi pariwisata olahraga. Mahasiswa dari politeknik pariwisata, tambahnya, bisa menjadi  liasion officers selama penyelenggaraan Asian Games 2018, dimana Palembang bersama dengan DKI Jakarta akan menjadi tuan rumahnya.

Tourism Minister Encourages Students to Become

Entrepreneurs. Tourism Minister Arief Yahya has encouraged students to become entrepreneurs, especially in the tourism sector. Arief said during a groundbreaking ceremony at the Palembang Tourism Polytechnic Academy in the South Sumatran capital that 10 percent of graduates to be trained in entrepreneurship under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism.

He said that the graduates should not worry as the ministry will help them to compete in the tourism sector. He added that the ministry will establish an incubator for those who are serious in running their own businesses, so that the welfare of all players in the tourism sector will improve.

He said the market has been absorbing 100 percent of graduates form the academy, with jobs available in hotels, restaurants, cafés, travel agencies and more. He further pointed out that 40 percent of graduates have even been offered jobs abroad.

However, he said average salaries in the industry are still relatively low compared with those in the financial, oil and gas, mining, property and telecommunication industries. Hotel general managers can expect to earn up to Rp 100 million ($7,500) per month, still far less than chief executives at telecommunication companies, he said.

The minister added that Indonesia’s tourism training institutions should implement global standards, including a mutual recognition arrangement with those in the other countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean). The graduates should also be certified to ease them work in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and other countries.

Arief further advised students to pursue TedQual certification, a tourism qualification certified by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).  Especially in Palembang, he added, he would like to see [the teaching of] sports events or sports tourism subjects, as South Sumatra has been dubbed the sports tourism province. Students from the institution will serve as liaison officers during the 2018 Asian Games, which the province will co-host with Jakarta.

Kemristekdikti minta rektor terima yang lolos Bidikmisi

Kementerian Riset, Teknologi, dan Pendidikan Tinggi (Kemristekdikti) meminta rektor untuk menerima semua peserta beasiswa Bidikmisi yang lolos seleksi Perguruan Tinggi Negeri (PTN).

Direktur Jenderal Pembelajaran dan Kemahasiswaan Kemristekdikti, Intan Ahmad  mengatakan Kemristekdikti meminta agar rektor menerima semua peserta Bidikmisi yang lolos Seleksi Bersama Masuk Perguruan Tinggi Negeri (SBMPTN), Seleksi Nasional Masuk Perguruan Tinggi Negeri (SNMPTN) dan seleksi mandiri.

Rektor diminta untuk menerima semua peserta Bidikmisi tersebut terlebih dahulu meskipun sudah melebihi kuota perguruan tinggi itu. Ia menambahkan tolong diterima dulu, karena tidak semua perguruan tinggi memenuhi kuota yang ada. Jadi nanti yang tidak memenuhi, kuotanya bisa dialihkan.

Bidikmisi adalah bantuan biaya pendidikan bagi calon mahasiswa tidak mampu secara ekonomi dan memiliki potensi akademik, untuk menempuh pendidikan di perguruan tinggi pada program studi unggulan sampai lulus tepat waktu.

Peserta Bidikmisi yang lulus seleksi PTN akan dilakukan verifikasi kelayakan dan verifikasi kuota oleh perguruan tinggi penerima.

Di jelaskan olehnya bahwa jumlah kuota Bidikmisi tahun 2017 adalah 80.000 orang. Jika jumlah peserta Bidikmisi di perguruan tinggi lebih besar dari kuota, setiap perguruan tinggi diharapkan membantu calon mahasiswa dari kalangan tidak mampu sesuai dengan skema yang ditetapkan masing-masing perguruan tinggi.

Kemristekdikti Requests Rectors to Accept All Students Passing Bidikmisi

The Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Kemristekdikti) requests rectors to accept all participants of Bidikmisi scholarship who passed the State Universities (PTN) selection.

The Director General of Learning and Student Affairs of Kemristekdikti, Intan Ahmad, said that Kemristekdikti had requested rectors to accept all participants of Bidikmisi scholarship who passed Joint Entrance Selection of State Universities (SBMPTN), National Selection of State University Entrance (SNMPTN) and Mandiri selection (seleksi mandiri).

A rector is initially requested to accept all participants of Bidikmisi although the number exceeds the university’s quota. He added that they are first asked to accept the participants, because not all universities meet the existing quotas on participant numbers. Therefore, the quota will be transferred to other universities should there be universities not meeting this quota.

Bidikmisi is an educational grant for student candidates who are not economically capable but have academic potential, to study in universities on the excellence study program until they graduate on time.

Bidikmisi participants who pass PTN selection will face eligibility verification and quota verification implemented by the recipient universities.

He explained that quota total of Bidikmisi 2017 is 80,000. Should the number of Bidikmisi participants be higher than quota, each university is expected to support student candidates who are not economically capable in accordance with the scheme stipulated by each university.

Mendikbud: Lima Hari Sekolah Untungkan Madrasah

Menteri Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan (Mendikbud) Muhadjir Effendy mengatakan kebijakan delapan jam belajar dengan lima hari sekolah di tahun ajaran 2017/2018 menguntungkan madrasah diniyah. Lembaga pendidikan ini bisa diintegrasikan dalam proses pembentukan karakter yang menjadi tujuan utama kebijakan lima hari sekolah.

Kebijakan lima hari sekolah yang dilontarkan oleh Kemendikbud kembali menuai penolakan dari sejumlah elemen masyarakat. Kebijakan ini dinilai hanya sebagai versi lain dari konsep full day school yang sempat ditolak Presiden Joko Widodo (Jokowi) beberapa waktu lalu. Sebagian elemen yang menolak menilai konsep ini hanya akan kian membebani para peserta didik, termasuk membatasi interaksi mereka dengan orang tua dan lingkungan rumah.

Muhadjir menjelaskan, konsep pendidikan belajar delapan jam itu hendaknya tidak dibayangkan siswa akan berada di kelas sepanjang hari. Konsep ini hanya menekankan aktivitas siswa dengan berbagai metode belajar.

Muhadjir menambahkan nantinya guru akan mendorong siswa untuk belajar dengan berbagai metode seperti bermain peran dan dari bermacam-macam sumber belajar, bisa dari seniman, petani, ustaz, pendeta. Banyak sumber yang bisa terlibat, tetapi guru harus tetap bertanggung jawab pada aktivitas siswanya.

Mendikbud: Five-day School Benefits Islamic Education (Madrasah)

The Ministry of Education and Culture (Mendikbud), Muhadjir Effendy, said that eight hours study a day with five-day school in academic year 2017/2018 benefits Islamic primary education (Madrasah Diniyah). This educational institution will be able to be integrated into the character building process that becomes the main objective of five-day school.

Several parties have protested the policy released by the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) in regard to schools opening five days. This policy is assessed   as another concept of full-day school that was protested by Joko Widodo (Jokowi) a while ago. Several parties protesting the concept consider that this will only burden students such as limiting their interaction with their parents and home environment.

Muhadjir explained that the educational concept of eight hours study a day should not be imagined as students being in class the whole day. This concept only emphasizes students’ activities within a range of study methods.

Muhadjir added that teachers will later support the students to study in various methods such as to play roles and from various study sources, from artists, farmers, Islamic teachers (ustaz), pastors. A number of sources are able to become involved, although teachers should be responsible for students’ activities.

 

DPR: Program “full day school” Harus Bijaksana

Wakil Ketua DPR Taufik Kurniawan menilai wacana kebijakan Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan untuk menerapkan belajar delapan jam sehari di sekolah atau “full day school” harus bijaksana agar tidak menjadi suatu yang bertentangan dengan pola pendidikan berbasis agama. Ia menilai, pemerintah harus bijak dalam penerapan peraturan ini. Dia mengatakan hal lain yang penting juga adalah penyeragaman dalam penerapan kebijakan itu.

Taufik mengingatkan, jangan sampai di satu wilayah di Indonesia ada yang menerapkan sekolah lima hari namun di sisi lain ada yang tidak alias tetap menerapkan sekolah enam hari.  Selain itu Taufik mengingatkan agar kebijakan yang akan diambil pemerintah harus diterapkan secara berkelanjutan sehingga jangan sampai satu kebijakan diganti ketika menterinya berganti.

Menurut dia kalau kebijakan terus berganti maka akan terjadi kebingungan peserta didik misalnya saat ini pengelolaan Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) diambil alih oleh Pemerintah Provinsi yang banyak menimbulkan persoalan. Padahal di sisi lain menurut dia kesiapan anggaran di Pemerintah Provinsi dipertanyakan sehingga ada pengurangan daya tampung murid di tiap kelas mencapai 100 siswa.

DPR: “Full Day School” Program Should be Wise

House of Representatives Vice Chairman Taufik Kurniawan said that the policy discourse of the Ministry of Education and Culture to apply eight hour a day learning at school or “full day school” should be wise in order not to be contrary to the pattern of religion-based education. He considered the government should be wise in the application of this rule. He said another important thing is also the uniformity in the implementation of the policy.

Taufik reminded, let it not happen that in one region in Indonesia there are those implementing the five-day school but on the other hand there are those who do not or are still applying the six day school.  In addition, Taufik reminded that the policy to be taken by the government should be applied sustainably so that no policy should be changed when the minister changes.

According to him if policies continue to change then there will be confusion among learners such as the current management of Senior High Schools (SMA) taken over by the Provincial Administration which raises many problems. On the other hand, according to him, the budget readiness in Provincial Administrations is questionable so that there is a reduction of student capacity in each class reaching 100 students.

Tak Semua Daerah Siap Lima Hari Sekolah

Sejumlah pihak terkait pendidikan menilai, sekolah-sekolah di daerah belum siap mengikuti penerapan lima hari sekolah yang rencananya diatur Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan (Kemendikbud) mulai Juli ini. Berbagai faktor dari fasilitas hingga budaya lokal dijadikan alasanya. Kepala Dinas Pendidkan Kabupaten Bandung, Juhana, mengatakan, sekolah lima hari di Kabupaten Bandung bisa dilaksanakan, tapi hanya untuk beberapa sekolah. Karena, masih ada sekola dua shift dan juga faktor geografis. Presentase sekolah yang bisa melaksanakan lima hari sekolah di Kabupaten Bandung sebanyak 50 persen.

Hal senada diungkapkan Ketua Persatuan Guru Republik Indonesia (PGRI) Sleman, Sudiyo, yang mengatakan bahwa pemerintah harus mengadakan sosialisasi secara intens dan mengantisipasi terkait jam makan siang, baik untuk guru maupun siswa. Namun demikian, ia berpendapat hari Sabtu tetap masuk sekolah untuk pengembangan diri atau kegiatan ekstrakurikuler.

Sementara itu, Kepala Dinas Pendidikan dan Kepemudaan Olahraga Kabupaten Kudus, Jawa Tengah, Joko Susilo, mengatakan, pihaknya akan mengadakan rapat terkait kebijakan tersebut, termasuk muatan pendidikan agama di sekolah.  Karena, hal itu akan berpengaruh terhadap pelajar yang setiap sore mengikuti madrasah diniyah atau pendidikan Alquran.

Terkait belum meratanya kesiapan pelaksanaan lima hari sekolah, Mendikbud Muhadjir Effendy menjelaskan, penerapannya akan dilakukan secara bertahap. Ia mengimbau kepada para kepala sekolah yang tergabung dalam Musyawarah Kerja Kepala Sekolah (MKKS) agar dapat berkoordinasi dengan Dinas pendidikan setempat untuk memetakan sekolah-sekolah yang sudah siap melaksanakan kebijakan tersebut.

Not All Regions Are Ready for Five day School System

A number of education-related parties assess that the schools in the regions are not ready to implement five days schooling as regulated by Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) starting this July. Various factors from the facilities to the local culture become the reasons. Head of Bandung Regency Education Agency, Juhana, said that five-day school can be implemented in Bandung Regency, but only for some schools. Because, there are still schools with two shifts and also geographical/distance factors. The percentage of schools that can carry out five school days in Bandung Regency is only 50 percent.

This was similarly disclosed by Chairman of the Indonesian Teachers Association (PGRI) of Sleman, Sudiyo, who said that the government should hold intensive familiarizing and to anticipate the issue of lunch breaks, both for teachers and students. Nevertheless, he argues that Saturday should still be a school day for self-development or extracurricular activities.

Meanwhile, Head of Education and Youth and Sport Agency of Kudus Regency, Central Java, Joko Susilo, said he would hold a meeting related to the policy, including the content of religious education in schools. Because, it will affect the students who every afternoon attend the Islamic madrasah diniyah or Al Qur’an education.

Related to the unequal readiness of implementing the five school days, Mendikbud Muhadjir Effendy explained that the implementation will be done in stages. He appealed to principals who joined the Principal Working Congress (MKKS) in order to coordinate with the local education agency to map the schools that were ready to implement the policy.
