Despite the rejection of several parties, the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) continues to finalize the planned implementation of the five-day school in a week policy. The technical guidelines of the five-day school (LHS) have started to be discussed with the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag). ”
Director General of Dikdasmen Kemendikbud, Hamid Muhammad in Kemendikbud, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday (15/6), said that familiarizing is continuously conducted, and with the Ministry of Religious Affairs (they are) preparing joint technical guidelines, especially the synergy of schools with madrasah diniyah and boarding schools (pesantren). Discussion on the technical guidelines was conducted starting this Thursday (15/6) at Ciputra Hotel, Jakarta. Hopefully, the technical guidelines discussion will be completed this Saturday (17/6).
According to Hamid, currently there are many schools that implement synergies with madrasah diniyah. One of them is in Pasuruan, East Java, where after school at 13.00hrs and after a short break, then at 14.00hrs the children go to madrasah diniyah. He said, for the region that has implemented this, it means it has been successful in holding LHS.
Hamid explained if there is no other decision from President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), then in the third week of July 2017, LHS could be applied. Currently, there are already 9,830 of a target of 5,000 schools that declared readiness to organize LHS. He asserted, not all schools are required to apply LHS. The government has criteria for schools that plan to apply LHS, one of them, namely complete (number of) teachers and adequate infrastructure and facilities.
