Achieving students and underprivileged need not worry to continue pursuing education to the university level. Scholarships for underprivileged students are provided by the government. One of the scholarships for underprivileged students is the Bidikmisi scholarship. The scholarship program is aid for tuition and living expenses for eight semesters of study for college students with academic potential and underprivileged. Each state university has a quota in the admissions of Bidikmisi students.
State Islamic University (UIN) Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta is a state university that can accommodate students with Bidikmisi scholarship. This year, the Bidikmisi scholarship quota in UIN Jakarta continues to increase. Last year, UIN Jakarta accepted 160 students from the Bidikmisi path.
Meanwhile, this year UIN Jakarta targets 210 prospective students from the Bidikmisi path. However, from the selection process of academic year 2016-2017, UIN Jakarta accepted 205 students to obtain Bidikmisi scholarships. Deputy Rector of Student Affairs Yusron Razak admitted scholarship recipients in UIN Jakarta increases each year. Bidikmisi scholarship recipients obtain Rp 12 million yearly and disbursed every six months.
