A student in Vocational High School No. 1 (SMKN 1) Pandak in Bantul, Yogyakarta, named Anindya Ayu Pispita (16 years old) died while participating in the new student orientation program. However, up until Saturday, the cause of her death is still unclear.
Anindya’s shocking death occurred on Friday afternoon. The students were separated into two lines, those who wore uniforms and those who did not. When she was about to enter the classroom, she suddenly fainted.
Anindya was then rushed to a puskesmas (community health clinic). The puskesmas then instructed her to be brought to the PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital in Bantul instead. However, after only a 10 minute examination, Anindya passed away.
Her parents explained that she has epilepsi and two years ago, her twin sister also died after revealing similar symptoms.
DI Yogyakarta Public Relations Chief Sr. Comr. Adjutant Anny Pudjiastuti said the police cannot make any conclusions regarding the incident yet. They plan to inquire the school’s orientation committee to gather more information on this matter.
