Canada targets industrial vocational cooperation with Indonesia, Industry Minister Airlangga Hartarto said after meeting with Canadian Ambassador to Indonesia Peter MacArthur. Airlangga said Canada is one of the strong countries in vocational training. One of the discussions was vocational field cooperation.
According to Airlangga, Canada is interested in engaging in building an industrial vocational school within an industrial area. Ministry of Industry’s (Kemenperin) Director General of Defense Industry and Development of International Industry Access Harjanto said the government offered Canada to develop vocational education in Bintan. In Bintan, a special industrial area of MRO (Maintenance Repair and Overhaul) will be built or the maintenance and repair of aircraft. According to Harjanto, the MRO industry is growing rapidly in Indonesia today, so it requires a lot of ready-made Human Resources (HR).
The construction of a special vocational school of MRO industry will be very helpful to continue to advance this industry in Indonesia. Because the domestic MRO industry is only able to meet 30 percent of all aircraft maintenance and repair needs in Indonesia.
